Peonies, Metallics and DIY Mason Jar Wraps

Woohoo! Peonies in season and just in time for a fun girl's night out baby shower. I think I created my prettiest table to date. And would you guess this elegant table used mason jars as the vases? Yes, each of those beautiful metallic vases was actually an easy DIY Mason Jar Wrap that I created. Just proof that mason jars don't only have to be wrapped in burlap. (See picture and instructions below.) I'm so in love with this table and it really set the tone for a wonderful night for our mom-to-be and guests. So fun. Funky Nutcracker Birthday

My niece, MacKenzie, was born on December 27th and since the day she was born my sister has always worried that MacKenzie's birthday would be overlooked because of Christmas. Yet of course we don't let that happen, as you can tell by this 5th birthday soiré. Inspired by MacKenzie's new love of ballet, we did a Nutcracker Birthday.

The invitation read:
Point your toes and plié, as we get ready to wish
MacKenzie a happy 5th birthday!
It's right after Christmas, so the Nutcracker is still here
To dance and to shower Mackie with fun birthday cheer! 

As for the decorations, luckily my sister always goes along with my crazy ideas. So she willingly collected over 20 nutcrackers, and with her husbands help, they transformed the traditional Christmas decorations into funky, bright colored birthday nutcrackers. They were oh, so fabulously funky. And we didn't stop there, of cousre we had beautiful flowers, fake snow, paper snow flakes and all the custom paper details I designed with the ballerina drawing of Mackenzie. 

One of the activites was cookie decorating! 

Another activity was coloring our custom ballerina coloring sheets!

I really loved how the mantel turned out! MacKenzie has her very own birthday stocking and we added, bright, colored ornaments, custom mini banner, snow flakes and our ballerina topper.

Wedding Wonderland!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of styling a bridal shower for a friend getting married this holiday season. The event kicked off a month full of wedding festivities. The theme was a rustic, winter wonderland — or as we called it, a wedding wonderland! 

Custom signs said, "It's beginning to look a lot like a wedding!"

Tis the Season to be married!

DIY picture stands were created by taping custom banner sayings to clothes pins.

"Oh by golly, have a holly, jolly wedding this year!"

"Wedding bells ring, are you listening?"

"All Shawn wants for Christmas is Colleen!" Signs also said "Snow-one like you!" and "Snow Adorable!"

Congrats Colleen and Shawn! We look forward to seeing you ring in the New Year as newly weds! 

Happy Bee-Day!

We created this Happy Bee-Day theme for a 1st birthday party, but we think it woud also work great for a Sweet-as-Honey Baby Shower. All items are now available on Etsy as DIY PDF printables.

As for the photos, a special thank you to my friend Sarah Miller and sister Sarah Detrick. They were both visiting from Ohio and they used one of their precious vacation days to help me capture pictures of this wonderful party. They both helped with the styling and the talented Sarah Miller did a wonderful job behind the camera! Thank you both (also, I loved every minute of your visit so come again soon)!!!

Welcome to the World - Blogging Again!

So I haven't had a post since March! Yikes! And this post has been long over due, considering the shower was in October and Baby Olivia was born in November. Crazy how time flys. Anyways, this Welcome to the World Baby Shower really was a sunshine event to remember. And it was packed with a lot of DIY projects that I hope inspire you for your next party. 

Sticking to our signature look of creating 6 coordinating graphic patterns, our table scape took advantage of the different designs. We used the patterns as vase wraps and placemats.

We created a hanging sun with the words "Welcome to the World Little One."

Toppers aren't only for desserts. Think about embelishing your flower arrangements too!

Maybe my favorite DIY project, we created custom 3-D Sun Centerpieces. You'll need a 2" styrofoam ball, yellow paint, a 12" stick, white construction paper and a pot to stick the final sun into. All you do is paint the ball yellow then cut out two cloud shaps from the white construction paper. Next, cut slits into the ball where the clouds can stick in. Place ball on the 12" stick and then place in a pot (here we used wheatgrass but you could do a pot of flowers). As a final touch, we also added custom paper ribbons that said "Baby Girl, You are the Sunshine of My Life." This added our touch of pink we wanted. 

Custom rounded pennant banners and streamers acted as a perfect backdrop to our table. 

Remember, toppers don't have to be only for cupcakes. We used them on our sandwiches and also as napkin rings.

Loving all the patterns we created!

Instead of a guest book, we asked guests to write on a card their "Motherly Advise" for our new mom.

Another fun DIY project! We created a fun "sun" frame for photo ops with our Mom-to-Be. We found a large styrofoam frame that we simple wrapped with strips of yellow fabric. Easy to do for any party!

Okay, really fun to look at these photos again. Such a fun party.

FREE St. Patty's Day Cupcake Toppers & Garland

Hello party people! I have a FREE DIY Shamrock Printable for you guys to download and create Cupcake Toppers, Garlands or any other fun St. Patty's Day decoration. Below are instructions if you want to create the Cupcake toppers or Garland you see in the pictures. May the luck of the Irish be with you!

Shamrock Cupcake Toppers

You'll Need:

FREE DIY Shamrock Printable (Download Here)

Glue Dots: Craft 1/2" Size or Tape

4" or 6" Lollipop Sticks

Curling Ribbon

Cupcakes!

Instructions:

1) Print FREE DIY Shamrock Printable (Download Here).

2) Cut out each Shamrock.

3) Curl two strands of ribbon per topper.

4) Take one large and one small shamrock. Adhere the 2 strands of ribbon to the middle of the front side of the large shamrock . Then adhere the lollipop stick on top of where you glued the ribbon. Lastly, adhere the small shamrock on top of where you attached the lollipop stick.

5) Place in a cupcake and enjoy!

You'll Need:

Glue Dots: Mini Dots

1/4" White Ribbon

Instructions:

1) Print FREE DIY Shamrock Printable (Download Here).

2) Cut out each Shamrock.

3) Using Mini Glue Dots, adhere each shamrock to the 1/4" ribbon. Space them evenly (about 3-4"). 

4) Hang garland!

More Valentine's Love!

I love when designs take on a different feel just by being done in different colors. Yesterday I posted this design in Red, Blue and Pink. Today I'm showing it in just Red and Blue. It's only a slight difference, but they take on their own personalities. It will be interesting to see which people prefer. Which do you like? What other colors would you want to see? Christmas Cheer Preview

As a surprise for my mom this year, my sisters and I created an invite for a Christmas Eve party we have planned. My mom is hosting the casual gathering, but we thought it would be fun to add the Tonality touch to the event. The invites arrived yesterday so now I can show you it as well as a couple ideas we have planned.

We've named the occasion our Christmas Eve Oh Holy Cook-off. Guests (well, our family) are asked to each bring an appetizer, otherwise known as a Yuletide Yummy, to enter in our contest. The Yuletide Yummies will be judged on originality, presentation, holiday inspiration and, of course, yummy goodness. I can't wait to see and sample what everyone brings! Should be fun. And since it's all about food, I have a lot of different food topper and buffet craft ideas underway. Attached are just a couple of them because I don't want to ruin the surprise for my family -- my main blog readers ((wink)).

First I created these DIY Holly Toppers that I saw on Hostess with the Mostess. Hostess with the Mostess did them in beautiful silver and red, but I went the more traditional route (also, instead of a glue gun, be sure to just use Glue Dots, so much easier and less mess). I also created the DIY Serving Disks, another idea found on Hostess with the Mostess; however, instead of just gluing paper to the round wood disks, I decopauged the paper to the disk and then once dry I added glue & glitter all around the edge of the disk. Just a little added sparkle.

Next up, DIY Printable Snowman Toppers that are now available on Etsy. When I make these, I'm going to cut the snowmen and trees out individually and tape to toothpicks. I'll then embellish each snowman with a silver bell on the scarf.

Lastly, a sign I designed and I'm currently using to help decorate my house. I think it will be great at the party too!

That's it for now, I can't wait until Christmas Eve when I can then reveal all the other party details.

No Pink Allowed Baby Boy Shower!

So I can't believe it, my No Pink Allowed Baby Boy Shower Invite is proving to be my top seller on Etsy! I loved the idea, but since it's not a traditional invitation I didn't think others would be as taken with it – boy was I wrong. That said, it's about time I posted the pictures from the actually shower we held for my cousin Cristina. These party accessories are now available on Etsy too! 

Inspired by a boy's clubhouse (hence, the play on "No Girls Allowed"), we wanted our decor to be elegant yet scream BOY! For the centerpieces, we planted white flowers in galvanized buckets. We then created plant sticks with different boy inspired sayings and quotes. And for the final boy touch, we added plastic bugs and reptiles that we spray painted blue. The spray painted bugs are an easy DIY project that I'll post separtely soon.

We love using the DIY Ruffle Streamers that we found on MADE.

For dessert we had "dirt" cupcakes with worms (we wanted to make sure everything was baby boy approved). I love the different toppers, especially "God made dirt so dirt don't hurt!"

For favors: Homemade chocolate chip cookies made by my cousin Marisa. They are THE BEST! I really like the motherly advise we gave out with the cookies!

And the wait is over! Baby boy Justin is now the youngest member of our family!
