Party Mums Sunshine Pink - Bridal Shower

Excited to finally post pictures from this bridal shower featuring my Party Mums prints in Sunshine Pink.

My top 3 favorite creations for this shower are:

1. Vase Wraps: Starting with my original Party Mum print, we created 5 more coordinating prints (Pink Herringbone, Blue Stripe, Yellow Polka Dot, Yellow Mums, Pink Leafs). We then printed full 8.5" x 11" and 11x17" sheets so that we could cut to size for each vase, well really I should say, "each container," as we used soup cans and spaghetti jars! Each jar held 3-6 tulips (they were on sale at Trader Joes at the time for only $3.50 for 10 stems!!!). We then topped each jar off with white paper grass. (You can purchase the papers via our Party Mum Collection Accessories on Etsy. Full-sheet pattern papers are only avaialbe as part of the full collection.)
2. Love Fortunes: We made origami hearts using our custom printed papers. This time we printed the paper double-sided in different prints to add interest and contrast. Because it was a bridal shower, inside each heart we placed a love bible verse. We placed a heart at each place setting.
3. Photo Booth: Created a setting and props so guests could take pictures with the bride. The setting also acted as the perfect spot for the bride to open her gifts. My favorite part was the fabric banner we borrowed from my friend Sada - thank you Sada!!! So amazing!

My Go-To Vase

I'm not trained in flower arranging, but I've created enough to pick up a tip or two. One trick for creating a perfect flower arrangement is making sure you have the perfect vase. When decorating a tabletop you want to make sure the vessel isn't too tall, yet you still want to make an impact. I've discovered my "go-to vase" is actually a simple glass vase from Target. Pictured above and also in our blog banner, it's the perfect height for tabletops (measures about 5.5", keeping your final arrangement around 12") and the slight curve at the top allows the flowers to fall in an ideal dome. 

Unfortunately it's not available on the Target website, but you can find it in most stores. Only $3.99 - so get a few to have on hand for you next party.

Alyssa's Dora Birthday

We celebrated my cousin's daughter's birthday this weekend. (Would that make her my 2nd cousin or 1st cousin, once removed?) Anyways, she's like my niece so I was enlisted to help with her party.

Alyssa turned 2 and love's the kid's television program Dora The Explorer, so a Dora Birthday was the only way to go. It all started with the invitation. Anyone who's watched Dora will appreciate the special wording we used, but I really loved the simplicity of the polka-dots. My love was reconfirmed when we used the hanging dots at the party. What a simple, yet fun and sophisticated touch for the party. Add the flowers and table-tents and both the kids and adults felt like we were in a special Dora fantasy land. As a parting favor everyone went home with a special Alyssa and Dora coloring book. It was a big hit.
